About Leslie

Leslie Moore Murray is a silversmith jeweler, currently living in Los Angeles.

"I put alot of love and blessings into my jewelry.  They know how special they are by the way they feel, when they wear them.

Jewelry is part of my Spirit path.  My work is direct communication from the Gods."

Leslie Moore Murray attended Sarah Lawrence College where she majored in Art History. "Whenever I studied beautiful canvases by the old masters, I would always pay particular attention to the jewelry the subjects in the paintings were wearing. The renderings of pearls and precious gems were fascinating to me. Little did I know then that working with 3-D gems and pearls would become my metier."

In 1985, she became interested in making jewelry, after having a prophetic dream.  Without having any previous experience in jewelry making, she had a dream, where an old man with a flowing white beard visited her in her bedroom and told her that she would like making jewelry.  Whereupon he started to pull out long crystals from giant clusters.  He said she will enjoy working with crystals and gems from the earth. Leslie knew even before the dream was over, that this was the right occupation for her.  She was ecstatic and quickly started to take as many jewelry classes as she could.

Leslie started attending jewelry classes at different schools. She first attended the School of Visual Arts in New York, then continued at Studio Jewelers where she learned the fundamentals of silversmithing. After she moved to California, she attended the G.I.A. (the Gemological Institute of America). Besides learning more fabrication techniques, she went on to finish an intensive jewelry design course. "Attending different schools can be informative, but I learned the most while apprenticing for one year with the jeweler Sasa. I improved all my bench techniques." After leaving Sasa, Leslie went briefly to attend the Jewelry Arts Institute in New York, where she learned ancient jewelry techniques like granulation, fusing and ancient chain making. "That was the best. It was so inspiring to be using the same techniques that the ancients used thousands of years ago. That’s why I'm so attracted to enamels and their history."

Leslie still uses crystals and precious gems in her jewelry, but she also uses them for healing.  While making her necklaces, she uses prayers and affirmations as she ties each knot or wire wraps each bead into place.  Leslie is a Reiki master.  She can access large amounts of pranic energy and channel them into her pieces.  "People don't need to know what I do.  I put alot of love and blessings into my jewelry.  They know how special they are by the way they feel, when they wear them."  The Goddess energy from the Earth, the Angelic energy from the Cosmos are all accessed and imbued into the pieces.
